The Ferrograph Series 6 Type 651 is a semi-professional reel-to-reel tape recorder produced between 1966 and 1969. It features a half-track stereo configuration, although a quarter-track version was also available. The unit supports reel sizes up to 8.25 inches and operates at multiple speeds: 1.875, 3.75, 7.5, and 15 inches per second. It uses a hybrid electronics setup with three motors and three permalloy heads, allowing for off-tape monitoring.
This model was notable for its durability and reliability, employing a heavy-duty frame and valve amplification. It includes comprehensive controls for input and output levels and uses peak reading meters for precise recording levels.
